Guiding Line of Time

Glazed Earthenware, 2013

It was produced with reference to the horn form which is an organic structure. In past civilizations, horns belonging to various animals had various meanings. Some of those; Power, masculinity, potency, fertility, fruitfulness, heroism. The horns, which had many different representations, have a predominantly 'male-dominated' structure. In this study, which is based on horn and spine meanings, reference is made to ‘men's language' and 'male power' which are still going on when it comes to contemporary times.

This language and the presence of this power are questioned. It is being questioned whether this spine is only meaning to 'standing up right’; or it belongs to a creature whose time has already been wiped out; or an x-ray image of the body still showing its vitality. It was produced in large numbers, and a 'spine' was created. In the study, earthenware which is frequently seen in old ceramic finds was used as casting mud and terra sigillata was applied. It was fired with sooty firing. The work was exhibited with purple silk fabric representing richness, nobility and political power.
