Seha Nur Sarı
ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Seha Nur Sarı (b. 1988, Istanbul) is a visual artist based in Istanbul whose multidisciplinary practice spans photography, digital construction, AI-assisted image-making, oil painting, watercolor, ceramics, found objects, and installation. Her work explores transitional spaces between consciousness and the unconscious, drawing on mythology, dream imagery, memory, and the relationship between body and space. Between 2017 and 2021, she lived and worked in London, a period that contributed to the development of her painting practice and broader artistic language.
Light, transformation, and shifting states of perception recur throughout her practice. In The Invitation of Light, architectural spaces become sites of passage through historical layers and collective memory. In Aphrodite, Sarı turns to the body, examining contemporary ideals of beauty and the systems through which the body—particularly the female body—is standardized, reconstructed, and commodified. Her recent body of work, centered on dreams and the unconscious, moves further into a space where linear structures of time and space dissolve and personal memory intersects with collective imagery.
Across these bodies of work, Sarı moves between digital and physical modes of production, treating technology and traditional media not as opposing practices but as interconnected tools within the same visual language. Rather than directing the viewer toward a fixed interpretation, her work creates spaces in which images, objects, memory, and symbolic associations can remain open, allowing meaning to emerge through the viewer’s own encounter with the work.
